SeaSprite Sports: Diary of a Challenge
The RRD and Ezzy Looping Lords and Ladies Challenge. a.k.a. The Triple L Challenge

Launched March 6th 2008
The aim of the RRD & Ezzy Triple L Challenge is to find the highest looper on the water and is based on sSs Team Rider, Steve Waller's belief that Windsurfers can loop higher than Kitesurfers.
Not only will the winner receive total respect from anyone who knows anything about windsurfing but SeaSprite Sports are supporting the Triple L Challenge by putting a stunning ‘Looping Lords and Ladies’ Trophy on the table, along with a summer collection of RRD clothing for when the wind has gone and posing is a priority.

The rules are simple:
1. Photographic evidence is required as proof of the most insane high jump achieved and which must involve a loop.
2. You need to compete for the prize in the UK, Ireland or Channel Islands.
3. The challenge finishes at the end of sailing on the 19th of June and entries must be submitted to sss@ssswindsurf.com by the 20th of June 2008.
4. SeaSprite Sports Managing Director, Wouter Ardern, has the final decision on the winning jump and photographs need to be of a decent quality to allow close comparison.
5. SeaSprite Sports reserve the right to use any submitted photographs for promotion purposes.
6. No loop, no prize, no matter how high you go.

Neither SeaSprite Sports nor it's associates accept any responsibility for damage or injury to kit, persons or pride as a result of this challenge

Photo's below: Steve Waller in action
March 10th 2008

35-40 mph winds

Worthing

Steve Waller: ''2 sessions, Worthing before high tide and Littlehampton (LA) on the falling tide. LA was proper sailing, waves and cross shore, completely maxed on an Ezzy wave SE  4.0m with Jamie Hawkins, Simon Dawkins, Steve Keene and Jamie Thorne all ripping.

Had some absolutely insane Airs of which only a few turned into voluntary loops. Jamie was nailing some huge Backies and LA had high quality riding waves. (typical though no one to record the event)

I was on a 77Wave Cult and 4.5m in the pics and then same board but 4.0m later at LA. Today 4.0m and old RRD 76Wave swallow as nose of WaveCult collided with the bottom on shallow back looplanding....

Worthing by contrast in the morning was pretty onshore, very messy and quite difficult to sail with gusty winds and so much water moving around almost impossible to really get high enough to win the sSs "Triple L" Challenge.''

Gavin Weathercam: Two sessions on "Big Monday" and the first was very gusty, which made it even more challenging. When the wind did come through you were grossly over powered, and out the back waves were huge, I was taken out by one and was not a pleasant 20 seconds or so. Only about 4 or 5 of us, (pictures here) Steve W looping in the insane conditions. Eventually packed it in when I was mullered in the deceptively "small" :) shorebreak attempting to launch still some 90 mins off high tide.

Second session and by the time I arrived (15:30) at the Cafe, tide was well down and waves had backed right off, however the wind was by much stronger and I, along with the "Hove Posse" were maxed out on 3.5's. Another challenging session
